Project Detail

Apna Contacts

A security-first multi-tenant contact vault for families and small businesses—owner CRUD, view-only members, and passworded guest share links.

The Brief

One private vault for every important number.

Apna Contacts is a private shared phone book built so households and shops stop chasing numbers in group chats. Owners keep named vaults (home, shop, family), invite trusted people as view-only members, and issue guest links when relatives only need a quick lookup.

The product story is access control: full CRUD for owners, authenticated read-only for members, and account-free guest sessions behind optional passwords—backed by Next.js Server Actions, Supabase Auth, and Postgres RLS.

Technical Architecture

Next.js

App Router product with React Server Components, Server Actions, Zod validation, and a mobile-first contact UI.

Supabase

Auth, Postgres, and RLS for multi-tenant workspaces—plus SECURITY DEFINER RPCs for guest reads with no anon table grants.

Guest sessions

HMAC-signed HTTP-only cookies, rate-limited share passwords, and middleware that confines guests to read-only routes.

Designed for lookup under pressure

The vault UI follows familiar phone-contact patterns—search first, All / Favorites / Recent tabs, and one-tap call, WhatsApp, and copy—so family and staff can find a number fast without learning a new CRM.
